Kia has reportedly cancelled plans to build an electric replacement for its Stinger liftback. The new model, codenamed GT1 and mooted to wear the EV8 nameplate, won’t enter production and the new electric vehicle platform will be exclusive to Genesis models. The GT1 was set to replace the Stinger and the K8 sedan, and was expected to have a 450kW output and a 113.2kWh battery. With no GT1/EV8 forthcoming, the EV6 will serve as the Stinger’s replacement after the Stinger exited production in 2023.
