Geely Auto has launched a next-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology designed to last one million kilometres over 50 years. The new battery will be fitted to the Geely Galaxy E5 SUV, expected to be on sale in Australia by 2025. Geely claims its new Short Blade battery will end fears over battery durability and lead the class for charging speed and safety. The battery has fast-charging capabilities and retains 90.54% of its capacity at -30C. It has undergone rigorous safety testing and has a self-healing capability. Geely believes the longer-life battery will increase residual values of its vehicles and reduce carbon emissions.
