AutoExec Summary
The Toyota GR Corolla hot hatch is set to offer an automatic gearbox option, a torque boost, and design changes. Screenshots of a bulletin to Canadian dealers indicate that an eight-speed automatic will be introduced to GR Corolla production overseas, coinciding with a torque boost from 370Nm to 400Nm for the 224kW 1.6-litre turbo three-cylinder engine and a revised front bumper design. The leaked dealer bulletin also lists a new sub-radiator on the better-equipped Premium model grade, and paddle shifters are reportedly fitted behind the steering wheel in automatic versions. The update is expected to be sold as a Model Year 2025 (MY25) vehicle in Canada, but Australian arrival plans are yet to be confirmed. The eight-speed auto was durability-tested in road and rally racing and made its production-car debut in the smaller GR Yaris earlier this year.

Brands mentioned: Toyota, Volkswagen.
