AutoExec Summary
Tesla continued to dominate the Australian EV market, holding onto the top two spots despite a drop in market share. The company sold over 50,000 electric vehicles in the first half of 2024, setting a new record with an 18 percent increase from the previous year. However, Tesla’s market share fell to 43.5 percent as more competitors entered the arena.

In H1 of 2024, BYD’s Seal took third place with 4092 deliveries, followed by the MG4, BYD Dolphin, BMW iX1, and BMW i4. Rounding out the top ten were the Kia EV6, Volvo EX30, and Polestar 2.

On the flip side, the Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Mazda MX-30 struggled in sales. Despite this, Australia is on track to surpass 100,000 EV registrations in a year for the first time.

Brands mentioned: Tesla, BYD, MG, BMW, Kia, Volvo, Polestar, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Mazda.
