How The AutoExec Works

Looking for more information on The AutoExec, how our membership tiers work, and how to get the most from our resources?
It’s About Time
What is The AutoExec?
The AutoExec is the reality borne of a dream to make better use of our time.
Automotive professionals and car enthusiasts are faced with the impossible when it comes to keeping up with the industry they live, breathe and work in. At last count, there were more than 20 professional websites reporting news and reviewing cars: eight majors and another dozen closing in. Some, like Drive and CarExpert, publish 10-20 articles a day, spread across news, reviews, advice and opinion. And the others are all trying to match them, or in some cases, do even more.
On any given weekday, more than 100 new articles hit the internet… and that’s just in Australia.
The AutoExec is a website and newsletter service that will not only reduce the time you spend scouring the web, it will actually increase your reach. In short, you’ll spend less time seeing more. And you’ll be better informed.
TheAutoExec.com website
Once we have collected all the news and sent the newsletter, we don’t throw the day’s headlines away. We store all of them in our ever-growing news archive, along with executive summaries of every single one. We also keep links back to the source article, so anyone hungry for more than just our time-saving 100-word summary can sate their appetite.
Our news archive is growing at close to 100 articles a day, making it a more and more valuable automotive news resource as each day passes. If you want the keys to the archive, take out a membership today.

The AutoExec offers a free newsletter subscription and three membership tiers, each tailored to suit the varying needs of auto professionals and enthusiasts.
The AutoExec‘s homepage has a quick overview of each membership and what it costs. Below, we will go into more detail to give you a deeper understanding of each tier and its unique benefits.
FREE TIER
- AutoExec Daily newsletter
- Breaking News bulletins
Think of the AutoExec Daily newsletter as your active cruise control on the road to automotive enlightenment. We’ll navigate the headline traffic-jam, selecting the Top Stories and deliver them to your inbox at 6am every weekday.
The AutoExec Daily includes expert insights and analysis that take you inside the day’s top story. From time to time, we will also send out a AutoExec Breaking News edition when something momentous makes news.
The AutoExec Daily newsletter is free. Sign up via our homepage form.
SILVER TIER
- All FREE tier benefits
- Short summaries of the headlines featured in the newsletter
- Direct-to-source links for the headlines featured in the newsletter
- A list of all the day’s headlines
- Scroll back through previous day’s headlines, too
For less than two coffees a month, we open The AutoExec website’s doors to you. This means you get more than just the AutoExec Daily newsletter and AutoExec Breaking News bulletins.
Links on each headline featured in the newsletter will take you directly to a 100-word executive summary of the article, so you can quickly absorb more than the headline provides, but don’t lose precious time reading the entire article.
If our executive summary piques your curiosity, we also provide a direct-to-source link so you can see the entire article – at its source.
Each AutoExec Daily newsletter includes a link to all the day’s headlines, so you can quickly scan for any items of particular interest.
GOLD TIER
- All FREE tier and SILVER tier benefits
- Short summaries of all the headlines, not just the newsletter’s selection
- Filter our Headline & Summaries Archive by brand or source
The Gold membership tier is where you will really start to unleash the potential of The AutoExec‘s extensive news archive.
Gold members receive all the benefits available to FREE subscribers and SILVER members, plus access to executive summaries of all headlines, not just those chosen by our team to feature in the day’s newsletter.
Gold members can also drill down into our Headlines & Summaries Archive by applying filters for automotive brands and article sources.
For example, say you want to see everything CarSales has published about Toyota. Now you can.
PLATINUM TIER
- All FREE, SILVER and GOLD tier benefits
- Keyword search our Headline & Summaries Archive
- Twice daily keyword email alerts x3
Platinum members enjoy ultimate power over The AutoExec‘s resource, bending the Headline & Summaries Archive to their will, and creating custom newsletters that meet their particular needs.
With Platinum membership, you can not only filter our Headline & Summaries Archive by automotive brand or by article source, you can also search by any keyword of your choosing.
Say you want to see everything reported about run-flat tyres, simply put “run-flat” in our keyword search box. Our search engine will look for every article that meets your criteria and serve you up the headline, along with the date it was published and the article source. With one more click you’re reading our executive summary, and another click will have you at the source itself.
Platinum members can also set three keywords or short phrases in their profile, and have our search engine email them twice daily with matching results. These three keywords can be changed at any time during the membership period.
Lastly, Platinum members get access to The AutoExec VIP email support for speedy responses to any questions or issues they may have.
Changing Membership Levels
Upgrading your Membership
Monthly to Monthly, or Annual to Annual
Members can upgrade from one monthly or annual tier to another. The upgrades take effect immediately upon payment, and the unpaid portion of the old membership contributes to the new membership level. This is because The AutoExec uses a pro-rata calculation to accommodate mid-term upgrades.
In other words, if a member has already paid for a month, and halfway through that month decides to upgrade, The AutoExec will automatically calculate the membership fee for the remainder of the new month at the new level, then deduct the unused portion of the old membership fee, charging the member the difference.
The member’s monthly renewal date does not change.
Monthly to Annual
Members can upgrade from a Monthly plan to an Annual plan, and even across levels (Silver, Gold, Platinum). The upgrade typically takes effect immediately, whether upgrading on the same tier or across tiers. Any unused portion of the old membership fee is applied to the new membership’s annual fee.
Annual to Monthly
Members cannot downgrade from an Annual Plan to a Monthly plan mid-term. The change can only be made at the end of the current billing period.
Downgrading your Membership
Monthly to Monthly, or Annual to Annual
Members can downgrade their Monthly or Annual Memberships. The transaction, and the membership downgrade, will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
Monthly to Annual
This scenario typically involves an upgrade, not a downgrade. Moving from monthly to annual would usually take effect immediately upon payment, applying any unused portion of the monthly membership to the new annual fee.
Annual to Monthly
Members can downgrade their membership and their renewal term. The transaction, and the membership downgrade, will take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Cancellations and Refunds
Members wishing to terminate their memberships can do so simply by turning off Membership auto-renewal. This will result in the member’s account being closed at the end of the current billing period.
If a member wishes to cancel their account immediately, please contact Support using the form at the bottom of the Account page. Please note that The AutoExec does not issue refunds for unused portions of a member’s billing period. For more, see our Terms & Conditions, below.
Keyword Email Alerts
It’s like having your own News Butler watching the newswires and reporting back when your favourite topics are reported on.
Platinum Members can set up to three keyword alerts via the ACCOUNT page > Keyword Alerts tab.
How Keyword Alerts work
Our automated News Butler then emails a report, at 12pm and 6pm every day, listing articles with the keywords.
Each email report contains all the new mentions since your last report. For the first report, our News Butler includes all mentions since the last standard reporting time (12pm and 6pm daily). If no new articles match your keywords, a report is not sent.
You can change your keywords as often as you like. You can also disable them by removing the keywords from the fields on the Account page > keyword articles tab
How the keyword matching works
If you register Carplay as a keyword, we will match it with any new article containing Carplay, irrespective of the capitalisation. That means Carplay, CarPlay, carplay, and CARplay will all match.
It is possible to use two or more keywords together – effectively a keyphrase – but this is where The AutoExec operates a little differently to Google and other mainstream search engines.
For example, if Ford Ranger is used as a keyword, then subsequent reports will contain all newly-added articles which contain the exact phrase Ford Ranger. Our News Butler does not break the phrase down into constituent words like Google does, so we will not bombard you with every article mentioning either Ford or Ranger.
This approach is particularly important with cars. Just because you want to keep tabs on the BMW M4, you don’t want any articles reporting on the M4 freeway as well. Or maybe you do, in which case, just register M4 as a keyword and we will take care of the rest.
Members keen to register phrases as a keyword are encouraged to keep it short. The keyword phrase EV charging problems will miss any reports of EV charging issues and EV charging infrastructure challenges, both of which would probably be of interest. In this instance, EV charging will capture them all.
