AutoExec Summary
Police may not always be on the scene to catch dangerous drivers in the act, but the increased prevalence of motorists using dashcams doesn’t mean bad behaviours go unpunished. Since May, ACT Policing has allowed motorists to submit potential driving offences via an online portal, resulting in 132 reports and 25 traffic infringement notices. To raise awareness that motorists can report each other, the law enforcement agency published a video showcasing incidents captured since May, leading to fines totaling almost $7000. Most fines were for running red lights, but there were also instances of dangerous lane-changing and ignoring pedestrian crossings. Mark Richardson, Officer in Charge of Road Policing Acting Inspector, emphasized the importance of public reporting to hold drivers accountable for their actions. Brands mentioned: None.
