AutoExec Summary
Hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) are not designed to replace battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and the two technologies are aimed to co-exist, according to BMW. The German car giant believes that battery-electric and hydrogen cars can be sold alongside each other as they will appeal to different buyers and better suit distinct vehicle types. BMW is investing heavily in developing both technologies and conducting a trial of the hydrogen fuel-cell technology with a view to commercializing it by the end of the decade. BMW has not decided whether to proceed to production with hydrogen fuel-cell technology, but if it does, its first models could be in showrooms in the second half of the decade.

Brands mentioned: BMW, Toyota, Hyundai.
