AutoExec Summary
A new survey by Budget Direct revealed that almost 40 per cent of Australian drivers aged 18 to 27 have falsified entries in their logbooks. Out of nearly 1000 participants, 28 per cent admitted to exaggerating their driving hours to meet mandatory minimums faster. Males were found to falsify data 12 per cent more than females, with the highest incidence in Victoria. The survey underscores the varying requirements across states, with Victoria and New South Wales mandating 120 hours of practice, while Queensland and the ACT require 100 hours. Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia have lower requirements. The Queensland Government began investigating the learner licence program in November 2023 due to high crash rates among young drivers.
