Stellantis fuel economy debt mounts

The penalties were for failing to meet US fuel economy requirements for 2019 and 2020. The NHTSA nearly tripled penalties for non-compliance in 2022, projecting significant fines for the industry over the next few years to increase fuel efficiency standards.
